NSW coal mine off grid hybrid solar solution

Harelec were commissioned to investigate the potential for an off Grid hybrid solar solution to provide continuous electricity to the onsite mine office. Being an export producing coal mine stringent standard needed to be met to ensure required build quality and mine safety standards where achieved.

Harelec engineering and design team designed and developed an off-grid hybrid system comprising 14 kilowatts of ground mounted Solar PV panels and 68 kilowatts of active storage and back-up generator system. Prior to arriving on site Harelec designed the modular unit that contained SMA inverters and an SMA sunny Island with controller along with a fully air conditioned battery module to house the batteries at the optimum temperature. The unit was manufactured and completely fit-out at the manufacturing facility in Port Macquarie prior to being transported to site. The system has been designed and installed in a manner that allows for total transportability for future mine relocation capability.

Harelec project team delivered an on time and on budget solution and final installation met all mine requirements and standards. Savings of 70,000litres per annum of diesel have been achieved with this installation.
